Origins

ZYF was founded by several Zanzibar youth on October 26, 2001 in Zanzibar Town as a civil society youth organization registered under the Zanzibar Society Act No. 6 of 1995. Over the past 15 years of operation ZYF has carried out interventions on both Unguja and Pemba islands of Zanzibar such as: conflict reduction and drug abuse workshops, gender consortiums, youth political participation dialogues, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention training, as well as capacity building for staff and skill-building for local youth.
