Sober House
For Our Brothers and Sisters on the Road to Recovery
ZYF's Sober House is open to those addicted to substances from alcohol to heroine, and allows residents to stay a maximum of 6 months. The compound features a large garden with diverse crops and a large coupe for chickens, ducks and guinea fowl which provide technical knowledge for income-generating activities for residents, as well as group therapy sessions to promote mental health.
Comprehensive HIV Services
Free Medical and Mental Health Services
Although the HIV rate in Zanzibar has stayed around 1% since 2002, it is over 16% for intravenous drug users. ZYF provides free comprehensive medical and mental health services for those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, beginning with testing and consultation.
Methadone Clinic
Immediate Help for Addicts
The ZYF Methadone Clinic is located just outside of Stone Town on a hospital compound near to the Sober House. It serves those still actively struggling with addiction, primarily heroine use, and provides users with a safe alternative in order to ween them off of more dangerous drug habits.
